A graduate of Madras School of Social Work, India and Canterbury University, New Zealand, Maniam has extensive experience over a period of 4 decades on issues related to social services and health care, human rights of children and persons with disabilities. Previous positions included Head of Medical/Psychiatric Social Work with the Ministry of Health, Brunei Darussalam, Executive Director of a Foundation for the Blind and Project Manager with UNDP, both in Malaysia. He has also worked on research projects for UNICEF and JICA. Currently he works as a free-lance Social Work Consultant and Coach. Maniam loves a good conversation and while he is driven by a need for connection and compassion, he is currently exploring various facets of spiritual formation through spiritual practices.
