Today’s learners are active participants in their learning experiences and are shaping their own learning environments in a world embedded with digital technologies. “Rethinking the Impact of Engaging Tech Tools in Learning” is an innovative workshop that delves into the critical examination and evaluation of technology’s influence on both education and professional skill enhancement.  This workshop aims to explore how diverse tech tools are transforming traditional learning and development methodologies, leading to enriched learning experiences and improved outcomes.

Participants will engage in stimulating discussions, hands-on activities, and reflective exercises to gain a deeper understanding of the multifaceted impact of technology on holistic learning.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Understand the potential of technology in learning and development to enhance learning experiences, promote engagement, and support personalized learning.
  • Analyze the benefits and challenges of using tech tools considering factors such as accessibility and sustainability.
  • Identify appropriate tech tools for different learning objectives considering learners’ needs and desired learning outcomes.
  • Foster a reflective and adaptive mindset on their teaching practices incorporating feedback and adapting their approaches.

Reviewing Lifelong Learning Models – Application at Workplace

Introduction

There is a high emphasis on the importance of lifelong learning as the main agenda in achieving the nation’s human capital development. Lifelong learning can come in the form of formal, informal and nonformal learning and the implementation of it will mostly revolve around obtaining accreditation licenses in the beginning of the process. It can be also positioned as a new revenue model of any higher education institution, if done properly. Implementation of lifelong learning can benefit the potential students, higher education institution, labor market as well as the nation, in view of democratizing education and enhancing the economy. Best practices of operationalizing open and distance learning programmes, obtaining accreditation licenses, and implementing micro-credentials will be covered in this module.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Review lifelong learning models and flexible learning pathways that are available in Malaysia.
  • Describing the strategies that can be adopted to work towards obtaining accreditation licenses from MQA.
  • Suggesting best operationalization strategies to implement mechanisms like Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL), Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Micro-credentials (MC).
